Aden Pearce"Aden Pearce

I'm a singer/songwriter from Newbury via Reading. I was formed twenty-odd years ago but didn't have a rehearsal til I was at least nine. I'm lazy like that. I play solo acoustic gigs, usually accompanied by my brother Kieran on bongos to give it a bit of a rocket. Currently available is my demo, recorded over Jan/Feb 2006 at home. I play everything on it. Clever, clever me. Hope you enjoy it.

Sam PaineSam Paine

Sam Paine is one of the most exciting talents to hit the local Blues Scene in a long time.

At 25 years old, it is hard to believe this young man has the ability to bring power and emotion to his own style of guitar driven acoustic and electric blues. Witness his next live shows and you'll see what all the fuss is about.

Sam has been playing his trade locally and in London, gaining the respect of audiences and musicians alike. Now he's ready to take it up a notch with the Sam Paine Trio.

Simon Scardinelli Simon Scardanelli

Simon Scardanelli enjoyed success in the late eighties with Anglo-Canadian duo Big Bam Boo (MCA) scoring a top 20 radio hit in the US in March 1989, after which the band re-located to New York. Following the demise of Big Bam Boo Scardanelli remained in New York , composing installation works for Art Events and experimental films, as well as performing at acoustic venues along the East Coast.

A regular at the infamous Lach's AntiFolk nights at the Sidewalk Café in New York's bohemian East Village , Scardanelli released the darkly challenging Eye Camera album (Red Line) in 1994. Scardanelli returned to London in 1995 before moving to Brighton to take a degree in 20th Century Music at Sussex University.

Disappearing from the live circuit, Scardanelli put his energies into experimenting with sonic-composition. He is currently writing up his PhD in Electro-acoustic & Acousmatic Composition at Birmingham University. A collection of his electro-acoustic works, Birmingham is a Great Place! is available in digital format only from his Digital Download Shop. The full album may be previewed for free! A CD release is planned for 2006.

Scardanelli returned to the live scene in 2005, releasing HOBOHEMIA (Resonator Records), his first album in over 10 years. Scardanelli's songs combine gritty realism with soaring melody and quirky English eccentricity. Simon Scardanelli was given a rapturous welcome at the Wheaton Aston Festival , and at Festival at the Edge in 2005, and is currently touring acoustic clubs Nationwide. He has already been booked to appear at Wheaton Aston Festival 2006.

An outstanding performer, Simon Scardanelli has been building a strong reputation on the circuit throughout 2005. His new album scheduled for release in February 2006 will further consolidate his standing as one of the most interesting and innovative singer-songwriters to emerge in recent years.

"A voice as keenly jaded as Lou Reed's." Robert Knight - WBAI New York"

Simon Scardanelli's performance was particularly memorable. Powerful melodies, an impeccable vocal performance, decent song structures and lyrics that are actually worth listening to. Perfect." BBC Radio Berkshire

Audio RunwayAudio Runway

"Audio Runway. This band have emerged as the new kids on the block in 2006, but already they've made a glittering impression.

Audio Runway formed in March 2005 after Liam (vocals/guitar) wrote some songs and got bored playing them in his bedroom.

Liam got together with Andy (drums) and Floop (bass). After a couple of jams together they found a style they all liked combining their various influences; Liam's being more indie based (Oasis/Blur) and Andy and Floops being more rock based (Foo Fighters, Hundred Reasons). But somehow they managed to find an Indie/Bluesy/Pop type thing!

After a few more jams Liam realised he was a bit rubbish at guitar and couldn't do it on his own (he's not anymore; people compare him to the guy from Wham).

So the AR boys recruited Mike who turned up wearing a silly hat to add some lead guitar to their songs. Mike brought new influences to the band, being into the Chilis and Nirvana.

Two months later Audio Runway played their first gig and have been gigging ever since, recording two demos on the way."

Sequoia"Sequoia

Sequoia were formed back in January 2004, with founding members Chris, Stedders and Mic eventually discovering Ben and Longhair along the way. Stedman's penchant for writing emotional songs with a lyrical edge was well balanced by Chris' love of the more upbeat side of music, and Mic's ability to play the song not just hit those big round things as hard as he can.

The introduction of Ben on bass was a milestone not only in that he's a rarity among bassists - not obsessed with funk - but also as he could possible be a winner on Strictly Come Dancing if he were to enter! Anyone who has seen the Sequoia live show will know what we're talking about!

Longhair is the most recent arrival to the band, and his extra vocals and hair are a firm feature, as well as his sudden breaking out into any song you happen to name during rehearsals. A piano guru.

Highlights of the band's two year history include various radio sessions on BBC stations, including the recent interview by Melinda Messenger. They are about to record a session with the legendary Dave Lee Travis, and embark on their first tour to support the debut album Ebb & Flow.

Sequoia have also played on the same bill as Fun Lovin' Criminals, were Channel 4's Planet Sound band of the week, and Stedders won a poetry prize from Ottakers for the lyrics to Desmond & Nelly.

With release of Ebb & Flow, the band are about to embark on a new stage on their careers, will it be Top of The Pops or the Job Centre?

TantalusTantalus

Tantalus were founded by local musicians Max Hunt and Rupert Willder back in 1993. During this year they launched their first CD entitled Smoking Angels to an audience of over 300 at the Waterside Centre.

In February 2006, the band was approached by Martin Reid who had worked as a bassist and vocalist in other bands together with Tantalus drummer Tony for many years. Martin joined Tantalus on Bass and vocals in February 2006 with Sam Edwards moving on to guitar giving the band more flexible vocal possibilities and more texture and power with 2 guitarists.

The new line-up for 2006 and beyond comprises of Max Hunt (vocals, keyboards, piano accordion), Gerlinde Hunt (vocals, keyboards, recorders), Martin Reid (vocals, bass), Martin Clark (guitar), Sam Edwards (guitar, bass) Tony Wells (drums).

Tantalus now have the sweetest, tightest and most powerful sounding live line-up ever and the band has finally evolved into an experienced and exiting live act. This will finally enable the band to fulfil a long standing ambition and confidently record a live album featuring quality reworkings of tracks spanning the 13 year band history. This will be followed up by work on a new studio album later in 2006, the first for 4 years.

TantalusSmudged

Smudged are now all great mates and since september 2004 have grown into each other. Their sound stems from their similar music tastes but has bloomed with their individual nuances.

They have been described as being "folk rock", "eclectic blues rock", "celtic funk", "Space rock with a funky twist", "a bit like Roni Size" so they have wide appeal.

They themselves hope to find themselves listed under rock and pop in their local music stores. they dream of being on Top of the pops one day but will settle for the great outdoors.

ReculverReculver

Reculver are a heavy rock and roll band from the wilds of southern Kent. Formed in 2003 by cousins Luke and Simon Purdie with rhythm section Jarrett and Jimi August. Musicians drawn together through a common hard rock heritage coupled with an ethic of musical freedom. The Reculver sound is an articulate blend of power and melody with a heart of blues and hooks a mile wide.

The bands core is the upshot of a life long friendship between cousins Luke and Simon, enhanced by long term collaboration with drummer Jarrett. Playing together in various groups for several years they have honed their skills and sound into a unique identity. Incredibly tight, uncompromisingly hard, soulful music.

All this time the trio had been searching for the missing link, and they found it in more ways than one, in the form of bass monster Jimi August. Low end secure, Reculver was born. A blend of contemporary tastes, married with unashamedly retro sensibilities.
