Venue
Sunday 27 May 1pm, Town Hall, Council Chamber.
Judges will be looking for:
| • | Characterisation | • | Good use of voice | |
| • | Good choice of actions | • | Use of space | |
| • | Communication and quality of performance |
Competition rules
- Competitors must be secondary school age at the time of the competition (i.e. 11-18yrs)
- Competitors may act a solo piece of drama with actions and speech of up to three and a half minutes
- Competitors may choose their own piece, which may be sourced from a play, prose, poem, audition piece or from any other text. It may be written by themselves
- Props and costume may be used, but are not compulsory. A table, chair and door will be available for use at the venue. Any additional props or costumes must be provided by the competitors and taken away after use
- Material used must be non offensive regarding subject matter and language
- Three judges and a small rolling audience will watch the performances
- Winners of all competitions will be decided on the day and awarded their cups on the Victoria Park bandstand at 5pm
- Neither West Berkshire Council nor Newbury Fringe Festival will take responsibility for the supervision of competitors. Parents and guardians may accompany their children and be part of the small rolling audience
