The Kennet Valley Guild Spinners Weavers and Dyers were formed in1979 and from small beginnings now have a membership of over 100. They are very active both at their monthly meetings and in going out to meet the public and demonstrating their skills, which seem to grow year after year.

In 2005 the Guild visited 10 schools in the area and involved pupils with 'hands on' experience in spinning weaving and braid making. Now with a grant from Greenham Common Trust the Guild are planning further visits to schools and look forward to another successful year.

Kennet Valley WoodturnersKennet Valley Woodturners

The Kennet Valley Woodturners were founded in October 1997 when a group of 30 or so wood turners got together for the first time. Many members have been active wood turners for a lot longer. We are a friendly bunch, so come along to a club meeting or meet us at one of our many exhibitions throughout the summer.

The club has the following aims:
- To promote and nurture the art of woodturning in all its
  aspects;
- To provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and techniques;
- To organise regular meetings, discussions, lectures,
  workshops, and demonstrations;
- To organise regular competitions and exhibitions of members'
  work;
- To provide a regular newsletter to members

The club meets at Padworth Village hall just of the A4 at the Marriott Courtyard Hotel near the Aldermaston roundabout on the second Tuesday of every month at 7.30pm for club evenings, demonstrations and talks by professional turners and the opportunity to enter club competitions requiring varying degrees of expertise. First time visitors are always welcome to come along and see what we do.

On the fourth Saturday of every month at the same venue, we have a Turning Workshop, which is a lot of fun and ideal for the beginner or intermediate turner to learn from the more experienced ones. We start at 12.30 and finsh around 4pm.
